Get to know first Iran movie on Ashura

Iran Cinema Museum releases photos from the first Iranian movie themed on Imam Hussein (AS) and Ashura.

Iran Cinema Museum has revealed photos from behind-the-scenes of first Iranian movie themed on Imam Hussein (AS) and Ashura.

In conjunction with the beginning of the first Islamic lunar month, the Iran Cinema Museum published some photos of 'Envoy', the first Iranian film themed on Ashura and Imam Hussein (AS).

Ashura is the tenth day of the mourning month of Muharram and marks the day the third Shia Imam - the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) - was martyred in the Battle of Karbala

'Envoy' was made 38 years ago at the helm of Fariborz Saleh and starring Faramarz Qaribian.

The film follows Qays ibn Musahir, who travels to Kufa with a letter from Imam Hussein (AS). On his way, he was arrested by the agents of Ibn Ziad, the governor of Kufa, and eventually martyred.

Here are behind-the-scenes photos of the film published by Iran Cinema Museum:
